TikTok Shop Break-Even Planner — Free Budget Tool
Check a TikTok Shop launch budget against the 6-month break-even model: sample volume, ad spend, and SKU count versus the thresholds that set the clock.
The two numbers that set the clock
The model behind this planner: 500–1000 samples and $10,000–$15,000 in ads per month, funded together from month one, put monthly break-even around month 6 and cumulative payback around month 12. All-in, that is roughly $30,000–$40,000 a month including management — $190,000–$240,000 over the six-month runway.
Why half funding is not half outcome
Both inputs are thresholds, not slopes. The winner rate on seeded creators is 3–5%, so half the samples yields roughly 8% of the outcome — most months produce zero winners. Half the ad spend never exits the learning phase, so the data you optimize against is noise. When an input sits below its floor, this planner says "outside the model" instead of projecting a break-even month that the model says does not exist.
The 20–50 SKU rule
The constraint is samples per SKU per month. At 500 SKUs and a 750-sample budget each SKU gets 1.5 samples — no product ever receives a real test. At 30 SKUs each gets about 25, roughly ten videos a month, which is enough to learn from. The planner reports your samples-per-SKU alongside the 20–50 band.
What this planner does not model
Revenue forecasts, conversion rates, category-specific margins, and your supply chain. Every output is a check of your inputs against the published thresholds; where an input is missing, the output that needs it stays blank rather than defaulting to an invented number.
